Dmitriy Aleksandrovich Marin, the actor of drama, was born on January 22, 1984. For the first time he appeared on the stage as a child when he studied at the Pskov Pedagogical Complex (art department, theatre-choir class) - Dmitriy played in a mono-drama «The Tale of the Golden Cockerel» by Alexander Pushkin. In 1999-2001, he collaborated with the Pskov Municipal Youth Theatre «Benefit», where he played the roles of Steve («A Streetcar Named Desire» by Tennessee Williams) and Mercutio («Romeo and Juliet» by William Shakespeare).

In 2000 Dmitriy entered the Mikhail Semyonovich Shchepkin Higher Theatre School (course of Vladimir Beylis and Vitaliy Ivanov). While studying, he proved himself to be a heavily talented versatile actor who can who can handle any form of role and genre from comic to dramatic, a children's fairy tale to musical drama. He had his first successes with theatre productions of Dostoyevsky's literary works - Smerdyakov in «The Brothers Karamazov» and Raskolnikov in «Crime and Punishment». Sophomore Marin managed to explore the most profound psychological nuances of the characters he portrayed thus proving that any serious role is within the scope of his abilities. Other noteworthy student works include: Tikhon in «The Storm» by Alexander Ostrovsky, Rudyi Panko and the Devil in «A Wonderful Night ...» based on Nikolai Gogol’s «The Night Before Christmas», Milorad Tsvievich in the «Doctor of Philosophy» by Branislav Nušić, Prokopy in «Vanya, how are you here?» by Vasiliy Shukshin, Silva in «The Elder Son» by Alexander Vampilov.

In 2005 Dmitriy Marin joined the company of the Maly State Academic Theatre of Russia. He immediately landed the role of the passer-by in «The Cherry Orchard» by Anton Chekhov, directed by Igor Iliyinskiy.

Dmitriy Marin has been working in the Maly Theatre for over 10 years. Over the course of these years he proved himself a gifted young artist. He possesses all the skills and traits of character needed to be a great performer: charisma, good physical skills, true commitment, confidence, keen insight into human behavior.

One of his most eloquent interpretations was Karandyshev, a young man, a clerk of modest means in Ostrovsky’s drama «Without a Dowry». His character is not a tragic hero, but not a miserable one either. He is a simple modest guy, who dared to get ahead of himself... Karandyshev in this «Without a Dowry» is a small but significant passage from Ostrovsky to Dostoevsky with his mild-tempered «rebels», noted Vyacheslav Shadronov, a theatre critic.

One of Dmitry’s recent roles is the great French playwright Molière («The Youth of Louis XIV» by Alexandre Dumas, père). In this production Marin’s character is at the very beginning of his creative path, and gets to know the intrigues of the court. Nevertheless, Molière performed by Dmitriy Marin appears wise beyond his years, and his pieces of advice and reasoning help cultivate the personality of the future King Louis XIV, or the Sun King.

Besides theatre productions, Dmitry Marin can be seen in a couple of films - «The Legend of Koshchei», «Dad» and TV series: «My Love», «Annushka», «The Rook», «Beat Cop», «Stranger’s Wings», «Uni», «Moscow. Three Train Stations», «Secrets of the Institute for Noble Maidens», «Guardian of the Law», «Faculty of Philology», etc.
