Boris Georgievich Nevzorov, People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation and Russian Government Award. He was born on January 18, 1950. He graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School (1975). Boris Nevzorov performed inthe Astrakhan Youth Theatre (1967-68), the Moscow New Drama Theatre (1975-76, 1977-82, 1986-88), the Mossovet Theatre (1984-86), Moscow Drama Theater named after N.Gogol (1988-89), and also worked at the Central Studio of Children and Youth Films named after M. Gorky in Moscow (1989-91).

From 1993 to 2005 Nevzorov worked in Drama Theatre named after Konstantin Stanislavski, where he performed a wide variety of leading roles in theatre productions – Shamanov in «Last summer in Chulimsk» by Aleksandr Vampilov, Professor Higgins in «My Fair Lady» by George Bernard Shaw and Frederick Loewe, Richard in «Feast in the Garden» (adapted from the play by Edward Franklin Albee «Everything in the Garden»), Henry II in «Thomas Becket» by Jean Anouilh, Suslov in «Summerfolk» by Maxim Gorky, and others. In these vivid and memorable images Nevzorov managed to reflect his creative individuality. His works instantly drew only attention from the public and theatre critics. Nevzorov was chosen the winner of an Innokenty Smoktunovsky Theatre Award for playing Monsieur Jourdain in Molière’s «The Bourgeois Gentleman». His character was a naïve and poignant dreamer, rather than a vain simpleton.

Since 2005 Boris Nevzorov has been working at the Maly Theatre, where he performed a number of significant roles from the Russian classical repertoire. He won the Russian Government Award for his portrayal of Lyapkin-Tyapkin in Yuri Solomin’s production of «The Government Inspector» by Nikolay Gogol. Each of the roles performed by Nevzorov is distinguished by his artistic courage and creative imagination. His Vasiliy Shuysky from the skillful schemer turns into a patriot of Russia, endowed with political wisdom and insight. And Lynyaev turns out to be a vibrant and powerful man, who can easily get carried away.

In 2017 Nevzorov landed the kind of role an actor could wait a lifetime for - King Lear in William Shakespeare's tragic play: «My primary objective was to play Lear in such a way as to make him speak to everyone’s very depths. I wanted to achieve, to create a true story about us, rather than to play something very detached and philosophical. I wanted the audience to feel how we allow things pass through ourselves and how we take it out. The most important thing for us was to show real people behind Lear’s tragedy».

Boris Nevzorov is endowed with a rare charisma and virtuosity. These qualities, combined with a bright stage temperament, sense of humor and, of course, the actor's ability to project himself sympathetically into any kind of work or personality, make Boris Georgievich one of the leading artists of the Maly Theatre’s company.
