The immortal work of the great Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni produced by director from Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Stefano De Luca – the guardian of Giorgio Strehler’s production «Arlecchino - Servant of Two Masters» and an expert on the Commedia dell’Arte. New production by Stefano De Luca is an original attempt to combine the traditions of the Maly Theatre and the Commedia dell’Arte.
De Luca remarks: «With Russian actors I would like to create characters, who are more complex than the masks that they are wearing, more realistic, but who nevertheless remain within the limits of the comedy so that they have more inner truth. That is, of course, a great challenge.»
Younger generation of the Maly Theatre’s actors willingly accepted the challenge. «The Servant of Two Masters» is a stylish and dynamic performance that immerses the audience into the atmosphere of the extraordinary Venice Carnival, and the orchestra that is on stage during the whole show adds special flavor to a performance.
The performance is accompanied by music by Antonio Vivaldi adapted by Eduard Gleizer.
