Andrei Zhitinkin's staging of «The Queen of Spades» is an outstanding, colourful and stylish production, accompanied by beautiful music and poetry that is based on Pushkin's great novel. It is a fantasy, where the romantic drama intertwines with a mystical thriller. Zhitinkin's interpretation of this old story, in spite of its strict classical form, acquires an incredibly modern sound. That is thanks to director’s ironic and keen look on a story written almost two centuries ago.
